Come be the friendly face commanding our check-in process! You'll greet clients as they arrive for surgery drop-off, pick-up, or vaccination appointments, help keep them organized, and manage our computer-based check-in system—all from the comfort of our enclosed booth, equipped with fans and a small A/C unit.

Using a laptop and spreadsheet, you’ll ensure a smooth, timely flow by checking pets in and providing clear directions. Clients pull into specific parking lanes based on their service, and you’ll guide them to the correct lane after check-in while coordinating with our Pet Arrival Coordinator volunteer to keep everything running smoothly.

Ideal Volunteer Traits:

Prompt and dependable.

Great with multitasking and staying organized in a fast-paced environment.

Comfortable using laptops, spreadsheets, etc.

Excellent communicator—speaks with clients in a clear, calm, and compassionate manner.

Able to work independently and make quick decisions.

Bilingual (Spanish & English) volunteers are a huge plus (but not required!).

Volunteer Responsibilities Include:

Greeting clients, inquiring about their service, and keeping them organized.

Checking clients in using a laptop and online spreadsheet.

Answering client questions with warmth and professionalism (radioing to front desk as needed).

Coordinating with the parking lot greeter to maintain flow.

Guiding vehicles to correct parking lanes.

Supporting our amazing PRCKC team by helping check-ins run smoothly.

Support our spay/neuter team by taking pets to/from their owners' vehicles. This is the best way to get some hands-on time with the pets in our clinic!  Morning Pet Runners will also discuss pick-up times and collect documents from clients, as well as helping get pets weighed and examined. Afternoon Pet Runners will deliver the clients' invoice and pet's paperwork, and will be responsible for explaining the paperwork and how to care for the pet after surgery. Previous dog handling training is preferred but not required.

Join us for our brand new KCK Thursdays - Spay/Neuter + SNS at KCK Animal Services!

This opportunity is for a dedicated volunteer team supporting our spay/neuter and vaccination efforts every Thursday in KCK. Volunteers in this role will work closely with our PRCKC staff and vet team to assist with:

Post-surgery recovery careSNCA prep and pack-makingCheck-in/check-outPet Runner support

Because of the nature of this clinic, we are looking for committed, consistent volunteers (every Thursday or every other Thursday at minimum). These roles require confidence, strong communication, and the ability to take initiative.

Help us keep our clinic organized and stocked with supplies for our veterinary team. Assistants help with a variety of tasks ranging from sorting donations, filling food pantry orders (prepping/packaging food), organizing and prepping vet supplies (syringes, plastic cone collars, etc.), sanitizing work areas, doing laundry, and assisting with general clean up. 

Volunteers in this role must:

be able to work independently and stay on task have some organizational skills enjoy helping with a variety of hands-on tasks be willing/able to take direction from staff

Training takes place on-the-job. Sign up for a shift and  a staff member or experienced volunteer will be assigned to train you.

NOTE: Mondays are pack/supply prep ONLY. No surgeries are performed on Mondays.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a vet tech? Get an insider's look and become part of an amazing team when you volunteer for SNCA! Spay/Neuter Clinic Assistants are responsible for a wide variety of tasks that make the vet techs' jobs easier, including: Stocking to-go-home meds Prepping/stocking s/n clinic supplies Cleaning E.T. tubes (tubes used for intubation) Prepping surgery pack materials (sugical towels & drape, surgical instruments) Recovery (monitoring dogs or cats post-surgery) Sanitizing/resetting kennels at end of day Other tasks as needed

Volunteers will start their training in the pack prep area: cleaning and sorting surgical instruments, cutting surgical drape and caring for/prepping other items used during surgeries. Once these skills are mastered, volunteers will be invited to start shadowing the vet techs in recovery, if interested.

Volunteers in this role must:

This is a quick, one-hour opportunity on weekdays!

The veterinary team needs help with re-setting and re-stocking at the end of their busy days. This volunteer would come in at the end of the day and refill all spray bottles, stock the towel warmer and do a final laundry check, stock fluid warmer, stock syringes, stock pill bottles, fill distilled water, and re-set/prep machinery like the the autoclave and ultrasonic (surgical instrument cleansing/sanitizing machines). Some kennel cleaning, sweeping/mopping may also be needed.

Volunteers in this role must:

Join us on the first Friday of each month for a "drive-thru style" vaccination clinic at the Jackson County Regional Animal Shelter in Independence! Volunteers help with traffic control, customer service, paperwork prep, taking payments, handing out resources, and more! Bilingual (Spanish) skills are a plus!

We utilize an indoor space at this location, but please note that the event is still a drive-thru, so some volunteer positions will still take place largely outdoors. If you work any of the outdoor positions, you will have opportunities to take breaks inside!

We're taking our vaccine services on the road! We'll be setting up our Sit-n-Serve mobile unit at different locations around the metro on Mondays. Volunteers are essential to this team. From 10 am to 2 pm, you'll help with customer service (prepping forms and discussing services with clients) and taking payments, prepping vaccines and other supplies, giving out information and resources, and more.

Get active in animal welfare! As an outreach volunteer, you will:

We're taking our vaccine services on the road! We're in Olathe at Lifetime Pet (1030 E. Santa Fe, Olathe, KS 66061) for a Sit-n-Serve every Tuesday from 10 am to 2 pm. Volunteers are needed from 9:30 am to about 3 pm.

Volunteers are essential to this team -- you'll help with customer service (prepping forms and discussing services with clients) and taking payments, prepping vaccines and other supplies, giving out information and resources, and more.

Our new and exciting Hybrid KCK Surgery Day is PRCKC's off-site spay/neuter and vaccination event that happens on Thursdays at KCK Animal Services. We're looking for 1-2 volunteers who can come to the clinic on Wednesdays and help our team get stocked for Thursday by cleaning instruments, wrapping/labeling packs with indicators, and running the sterilizer machine. 

What you'll do: (training provided)

We are excited to partner with Uplift, an outreach program serving the houseless population in Kansas City. Uplift provides food, clothing, and access to other forms of care -- including providing for the needs of their clients' pets. That's where YOU come in!

Every Wednesday evening from 4:30 pm to approximately 9:30-10 pm, volunteers are needed to meet at our clinic, load supplies, then follow the Uplift truck in our PRCKC Transit van. Along the route, we will provide free vaccinations, microchips, pet food and other supplies to those in need. NOTE: We only go out on the 1st 4 Wednesdays of each month. We do not go out on any 5th Wednesday.

Volunteers will need to meet here at the clinic at 4:30 pm unless otherwise requested. You will join our dedicated Uplift team who will show you everything you need to know! You'll then head to the Uplift warehouse (1516 Prospect Ave. KCMO 64127) to get paired up with an Uplift truck. You'll follow a different truck and go on a different delivery route each week.

Represent PRCKC at Waggin' Trail Dog Park for a spooktacular morning celebrating pets and their people! Howl-O-Ween is a Halloween-themed event full of furry fun, including dog costume contests, raffle prizes, vendor booths, and special goodie bags. We’ll have a booth set up to share information about PRCKC, connect with pet-loving families, and spread the word about our mission of keeping pets and people together.

We’re expecting around 100 dogs plus their humans, so this will be a paw-some chance to engage with the community and represent PRCKC!

Volunteer Role:

Help set up and staff the PRCKC info booth

Hand out flyers, treats, or swag

Chat with attendees about our services and volunteer opportunities

Assist with tear-down after the event

Our Pet Food Pantry distributes thousands of pounds of pet food yearly. We need volunteers to help work the pantry and get this food to the pet owners who need it! Pantry takes place here at our clinic.

Volunteers run our pantry. You may be asked to help set up, direct flow of cars, collect food and deliver to vehicles, possibly unload food from the box truck, and clean up after the pantry has ended.

Join us at the intersections of Jefferson Street and Avenida Cesar E Chavez in Kansas City, Missouri, UNDER THE I-35 BRIDGE, for a drive-thru vaccination clinic with the Westside CAN Center. Volunteers help with traffic control, customer service, paperwork prep, taking payments, handing out resources, and much more! This is a great opportunity for pet owners in this area to access basic preventative care at our most affordable prices. These big, busy events wouldn't be possible without volunteer support. Come help us vaccinate over 100 pets in need!

This is a 1-doctor event, but that won't stop us from helping a lot of pets out there get their vaccines :)

Be part of the 31st annual Dogtober Fest -- one of the biggest fall events for dogs and their families in the Kansas City area! With over 100 vendors, fun contests, and thousands of pet lovers, this is an incredible chance for PRCKC to connect with the community, share resources, and spread our mission to keep pets and people together.

Volunteers will help at our PRCKC info booth, greeting attendees, handing out flyers, answering basic questions, and representing our work in the community. You’ll also get to soak in the fun, see lots of dogs, and enjoy the festival atmosphere!

For folks who prefer to volunteer in their own home on their own time! There are a few ways to help from home:

Set up a time to come to the clinic and pick up donated supplies. Take them home and prepare them for our vet team to use. Bring them back within a couple weeks and pick up more! Items may include pill bottles to be washed, newspaper to be sorted for lining kennels, bed sheets to be cut and ripped into strings for ecollars (plastic cone collars). Peruse sites like Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist for pet items in good condition being given away for free. Kennels, carriers, litterboxes, toys, leashes, bowls -- anything that could help someone take good care of their pet. Safely pick up these free items and bring them to the clinic when you have time.
