Is your corporate/church/social group looking for a volunteer opportunity? Join our Cave Crew for a day! Opportunities typically last up to 2 hours and are ideal for groups of 5-10 people. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Heavy lifting required.
All group members must register on this site in order to volunteer. A representative for your group must email volunteer@snkc.net and indicate the group's name, date desired, number of volunteers and list of volunteer names. An SNKC representative will add your group to the desired date. All group members must then log in and e-sign our waiver of liability and code of conduct.
SNKC is a founding member of Kansas City's new Pet Food Alliance. We partner with fellow founders Great Plains SPCA to pool our pet food resources for Kansas City pet owners. We have a shared storage space in Dean's Downtown Underground, and we need volunteer groups to help unload, move, and sort large quantities of pet food that are delivered to us on pallets.
Volunteers should be able to stand for up to 2 hours, engage in heavy lifting, be able to bend, crouch, reach, etc. Experience using a pallet jack is a plus! Limited opportunities for less physical activity include: sweeping floors, taping and labeling bags, breaking down cardboard boxes.
SNKC staff members will meet your group at the elevator entrance to the caves (3150 E. Mercier St.), and will provide bottled water and light snacks. We do ask that all volunteers bring their own reusable water bottle if possible.
