We will have an info table and a volunteer speaker representing us at this very important event. Even if you don't volunteer, we highly encourage everyone who can attend, to do so! This will be a great resource for animal lovers, people working and volunteering in animal welfare, and the community at large to learn about our shelter system's dire need, and how we can all help. Our volunteers will be onsite at Bar K from 11 am to 6 pm. But this is an all-day event, so if you aren't volunteering, feel free to come by whenever you can to enjoy the event!

Our wonderful rescue community here in Kansas City is currently in crisis. There are way too many animals in need at the moment, which is straining their limited resources. Sadly, way too often they are having to face the terrible decision to euthanize a healthy animal to make space.
We want to help. We are hosting an all-day event on International Homeless Animals Day, Saturday, August 19, to educate our community about this crisis and find as many potential new adopters and, just as importantly, FOSTERS as possible. We have so many dog lovers here at Bar K -- even if only a small percentage of them find it in their hearts to take in a new foster, together we can save a lot of innocent lives!
We'll have many local rescue organizations here all day beginning at 11:00 AM, with as many adoptable dogs as we can accommodate. As always, any dog adopted during the event will receive a complimentary annual Bar K membership, a $225 value! In addition, anyone who volunteers to foster a dog at this event can bring that dog to Bar K for free for up to a year!
We'll also have a series of speakers every couple of hours on the Seresto Stage to pass along vital information about the current crisis in the rescue community and to answer any of your questions. We will be inviting the local media, as well as local politicians and other influencers.
You won't want to miss this. Together we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of these deserving animals. By attending, you contribute to their journey toward finding love and comfort.

As always, entry is free for humans and Bar K Members. For Non-Members bringing a dog, entry is $10 for the first dog and $5 for each additional dog in the household. During peak season (April-October), the cost on Saturday & Sunday increases to $15 for your first dog, $5 for each additional dog. DOG ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Must be current on vaccinations (Rabies, DHLPP/Da2PP and Bordetella)
Must be properly socialized for group play
Must be at least 12 weeks old
Must have an ID tag at all times (if you don’t have one, we will provide at our Front Desk)
Puppies who are under 25 lbs AND under six months of age are allowed in the Small Dog Park only, or on one of our on-leash patios. This is because puppies of that age and size may not have the experience or physical ability to play safely among large adult dogs. Once your puppy is over 25lbs or 6 months of age, they are permitted to play in the All Dog Park.
